Music in Marlow
It's been over a year since we were able to bring you a concert, but we are lining up what should be a great programme for Autumn 2021. Scroll on down or click on 'Next Events' for the latest on our plans.

Who we are
Music in Marlow is run on a voluntary basis by Martin and Jean Ashford, out of our love of music and our association with Christ Church URC, of which this is a project. Christ Church was built in 1840 and beautifully modernised in 2002-3.
We started our regular concert programme in 2012 and, by the end of 2019, had run 65 events.
What we do
We put on the kinds of music that we enjoy hearing! That includes instrumental recitals, chamber music, jazz, choral and occasionally other genres.
We bring professional musicians to the town but also provide a platform for young and amateur players. Suggestions welcome - and do get in touch if you would like to offer us a performance.
Proceeds from tickets may be used to pay the musicians, to cover the costs of publicity, and where shown to raise money for specified causes such as Christian Aid.
Any remaining profit is donated to the church, for the Music Fund or New Project Fund. We funded purchase of the church's 1901 Bechstein grand piano.
Celebrating Hoagy (eventually)
We were planning our first post-Covid concert on Saturday 3rd July 2021, featuring the works of Hoagy Carmichael performed by Chris Ingham (pictured) and his quartet. Sadly, THIS EVENT IS NOW POSTPONED with a new date of 29th October.
See opposite for more autumn dates.
Here are our plans for the autumn, as they currently stand (but check back later for updates):
Sunday 12th Sept, teatime concert by a flute/violin/piano ensemble led by Nicola Summerscales. They have a super and varied programme lined up, including Elgar’s violin sonata and a trio by Nina Rota who wrote the music for the Godfather.
Saturday 9th October, recital by the Brompton Quartet (pictured) who should have played last March. Since then, the fame of these young players has spread and they made their Wigmore Hall debut in June. We are VERY lucky to get them! Their programme will include Haydn, Prokofiev, Schubert and Beethoven.
Friday 29th October, the much-delayed ‘Celebrating Hoagy’ gig with an excellent jazz quartet playing the music of Hoagy Carmichael.
